Behind the Scenes Editorial Shoot

Behind the Scenes Editorial Shoot

I was delighted to find that my ‘Viola’ silk dupion dress was featured recently in Artells magazine.

The editorial piece for the magazine was produced by students from the London College of Fashion.

The lead on the shoot was fashion student Vivian Qiu, who was our behind the scenes assistant at our recent London Fashion week show in February 2023 which took place at the iconic Olympia stadium.

Editorial starts with either the dress or the theme. Here's the whole process from start to finish.

  1. I decided on my theme for my collection for London Fashion week which I named the ‘Ophelia’ collection and designed 10 outfits for the show. The Viola dress, made from a beautiful goldfinch silk dupion, was my showstopper piece which was my final piece on the catwalk.

Vivian loved the dress and asked if it could be included in an editorial piece that she was working on for college. The theme was Future Fairies.

She worked with a team of fellow students - fashion stylists, photographers, and hair and makeup artists all studying at the college under the tutelage of Joseph Toronka..

  1. Starting with the Future Fairies theme the team put together a mood board which included all the important elements that they felt gave the right look and feel for the editorial. This included outfits, hair and makeup, location and the look of the models.

Then they did the photoshoot and submitted their final edited images to various publications.

Here’s a few images taken from the magazine. As you can see my Viola dress has quite a different 'unique' look. I think that they succeeded to produce a wonderful editorial piece which certainly evokes the spirit and feel of their theme Future Fairies..
